Tobacco Treatment Specialist Certification
The MaineHealth Center for Tobacco Independence Training and Education Program is a nationally accredited provider of the core training requirements through the Council of Tobacco Treatment Training Programs (CTTTP). These training requirements are necessary to pursue Tobacco Treatment Specialist certification.
In early September 2023, NAADAC announced changes to the current National Certification in Tobacco Treatment Practice (NCTTP) by adding the new credential, National Certification in Nicotine and Tobacco Treatment (NCNTT). In addition, ATTUD announced a new certification coming in collaboration with the American Heart Association called “Certified Professional in Tobacco Treatment”. For more information and updates on both of these certifications, please keep an eye on these websites as well as ongoing updates from CTI:
- National Certification in Nicotine and Tobacco Treatment
- Association for the Treatment of Tobacco Use and Dependence
While we acknowledge this transition, CTI is closely monitoring the changes and updates to certification and we will release further information as we learn more. Ultimately, CTI is confident that our core training components will prepare you to pursue the Tobacco Treatment Specialist certification of your choice.
If you are interested in obtaining certification, there are two training pathways through CTI that you can chose from:
Classic Pathway
- Treating Tobacco Together: Essential Skills Training
- Treating Tobacco Together: Intensive Skills Training
- Tobacco Treatment and Prevention Conference
