Program Overview
This program provides education on evidence-based research ranging from tobacco treatment medications, population-based issues and targeted tobacco treatment intervention skills. The MaineHealth Center for Tobacco Independence Tobacco Treatment Specialist (TTS) Program offers evidence-based education available in a versatile and fun format. Participants will gain competence in treating patients with tobacco use disorder and learn how to address tobacco use within organizations. Upon completion, participants receive a training certificate, which is the initial step toward obtaining the Tobacco Treatment Specialist Certification.

Training Format Details:

- Our TTS Program consists of self-paced online courses, recorded video modules and four days of live sessions via Zoom. The pre-work is distributed over several weeks to allow for flexibility for attendees.
- The pre-work will take approximately 10 hours to complete, but you are able to complete at your own pace.
- We do ask that all registered attendees have access to a computer with a webcam as this training is highly interactive. The training instructors will ask for attendee participation throughout lectures and group training activities. Additional pre-training instructions, including how to access the live virtual program, will be emailed prior to the start of the program.
- Note: The online portion, TTS Training Part 1, must be completed before attending the live virtual session.
- Please note: if you have completed the Essential Skills Training or any of our online courses in the past you still need to complete the online TTS Training Part 1.
Program Cost
Cost for the MaineHealth Center for Tobacco Independence Tobacco Treatment Specialist Program is $300 for Maine Residents and $450 for non-Maine Residents, to be paid by credit card upon registration. Tuition includes access to all online and virtual course sessions, program materials and resources and CE credit processing.
Program Accreditation
The MaineHealth Center for Tobacco Independence Training and Education Program is fully accredited by the Council for Tobacco Treatment Training Programs (CTTTP). This program provides curriculum based on a set of core competency standards for tobacco treatment specialists developed by the Association for the Treatment of Tobacco Use and Dependence (ATTUD) within these 11 areas:

Certification Options
There are two certifications available through either NAADAC or American Heart Association/ATTUD. Completion of either training pathway will meet the certification training requirement, additional requirements including application, exam, and others can be found through the certification links:
- American Heart Association/ATTUD: Tobacco Treatment Certified Professional (CPAHA)
- NAADAC: National Certification in Nicotine and Tobacco Treatment (NCNTT)
Continuing Education Information
- Earn up to 26.00 CME and CEU credits.
- Participants must come on time and be in attendance for the entire designated live virtual sessions via zoom.
- Please grant MaineHealth 7-10 days to confirm and process attendance in CloudCME prior to logging into the system to complete the post-program evaluation and download CE Certificate or General Attendance Certificate.
- Partial credits will not be issued to participants arriving late or leaving early.
