Tobacco Treatment Specialist Certification
The MaineHealth Center for Tobacco Independence Training and Education Program is a nationally accredited provider of the core training requirements through the Council of Tobacco Treatment Training Programs (CTTTP). These training requirements are necessary to pursue Tobacco Treatment Specialist certification. There are two certifications available through either NAADAC or American Heart Association/ATTUD. Additional steps are required beyond training to complete certification, please see below for more information.
If you are interested in obtaining certification, there are two training pathways through CTI that you can chose from:
Classic Pathway
Please note: completion of all three trainings need to be completed to fulfill the requirement.

- Treating Tobacco Together: Intensive Skills Training
- Tobacco Treatment and Prevention Conference

There are two certifications available through either NAADAC or American Heart Association/ATTUD. Completion of either training pathway will meet the certification training requirement, additional requirements including an application, exam, and other requirements can be found through the certification links:
- American Heart Association/ATTUD: Tobacco Treatment Certified Professional (CPAHA)
- NAADAC: National Certification in Nicotine and Tobacco Treatment (NCNTT)
