Overview: Building on the concepts of the foundations of Motivational Interviewing, this training will allow participants to practice the foundational strategies (OARS) of MI. Strategies such as open-ended questions, affirmations, reflections, and summarizing will be practiced in experiential role-plays. In addition, participants will be able to give and receive feedback from each other to help them improve their mastery of the skills.

The Foundations of Client-Centered Tobacco Treatment: A Training for Dental Providers

This virtual training is designed specifically for dental providers. To effectively treat Tobacco Use Disorder, dental providers require a specific combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities, along with affirmative attitudes, values, and beliefs that support them in this important and challenging work. This training provides participants with the basic level of tobacco specific information that is necessary to treat tobacco use disorder in their patients with competence and confidence. This training will outline the principal areas and key points of evidenced-based tobacco treatment practice.
