DESCRIPTION:Description \nThis 90-minute virtual training will explore how health systems can effectively address tobacco use among patients by incorporating screening\, brief intervention\, referral pathways\, and follow-up into routine clinical care.  Participants will explore evidence-based strategies for optimizing workflows\, strengthening documentation\, practices\, and ensuring staff competency. Perka Jr.\, CASAC\, NCNTT\, MaineHealth Center for Tobacco Independence\n\n$50 for Maine Residents    $75 for Non-Maine Residents\n\nDescription\nA group is a shared therapeutic experience facilitated by a trained professional in which participants work together around common concerns. Group treatment is a collaborative form of healing that focuses on concerns shared by group members. \n\nProviding evidence-based tobacco treatment in a group setting is an effective way to help people stop smoking or using other forms of tobacco.  Group treatment can help participants explore and resolve ambivalence\, raise awareness of tobacco related issues\, increase self-esteem\, and strengthen readiness for change. Groups also provide a safe and supportive environment to try new things and learn from the experiences of others.\n\n\n\nObjectives: \nAt the conclusion of this training\, participants will be able to: \n\nDescribe two types of tobacco treatment groups (Awareness and Recovery)\nIdentify key considerations for planning and facilitating a tobacco treatment group\nAssess a participant’s stage of change using the Stages of Change model\nExplain the purpose and goals of a Tobacco Awareness Group\nExplain the purpose and goals of a Tobacco Recovery Group\nIdentify the characteristics and skills of an effective group leader\nList common topics addressed in tobacco groups\nApply group facilitation skills through structured practice of a Tobacco Awareness Group\n\nRegistration closes June 4\, 2026 @ 12pm

SUMMARY:Accelerated Tobacco Treatment Specialist Program
DESCRIPTION:This program provides education on evidence-based research ranging from tobacco treatment medications\, population-based issues and targeted tobacco treatment intervention skills. The MaineHealth Center for Tobacco Independence Tobacco Treatment Specialist (TTS) Program offers evidence-based education available in a versatile and fun format. Participants will gain competence in treating patients with tobacco use disorder and learn how to address tobacco use within organizations. Upon completion\, participants receive a training certificate\, which is the initial step toward obtaining the Tobacco Treatment Specialist Certification. \nRegistration closes June 8\, 2026
